Congratulations! You are the proud owner of the best invention for lap swimming since goggles! Underwater Audio’s waterproof iPod Shuffle is going to change the way you think about working out.
However, we should be honest, not everyone is a tech wiz. I am here to offer you some sure-fire ways to get the best lifespan out of your new shuffle. Let’s make sure you do not mess up your waterproof ipod!
Use It
Our waterproofed Shuffle comes with everything that you need to swim with music. Don’t let it sit on the shelf while you think about getting into shape; now is the time to dive in and swim. The lithium-ion battery inside can actually be DAMAGED if the iPod sits for too long. While other batteries need to be fully depleted to get a good charge, this iPod doesn’t.
Actually, if you fully deplete the battery it could do more damage to your shuffle. This means the more it sits on the shelf, the more likely you are to run into problems. (We are talking about months here, not days!)
If you’ve ever been frustrated trying to figure out how to use your iPod, this video should help. We’ll show you the ins-and-outs of the Underwater Audio Waterproof iPod Shuffle, including the various buttons and functions. (Looking for more help? Click here for our comprehensive guide to iTunes.)
Keep it Clean
Our iPod was designed to withstand the water. This does not mean it is indestructible to the wear of life. If you are using the shuffle in salt water, chlorine, or even for that upcoming tough mudder, make sure to rinse it off and pat it dry when you are done.
The biggest problem area? The headphone jack! If anything gets in there, it creates a bad connection for both listening to music and charging.
We use a floss brush to clean them out here in the office. They are super cheap and well worth the investment.
Baby the Battery
The iPod shuffle has a lithium battery. This can be your best friend and your worst enemy. They require just a few extra special charging habits.
First, it is super sensitive to temperature changes. This means you shouldn’t leave the iPod in your car on a hot day or a cold night. This also means that the hotter it gets while on the charger, the more damage is done.
My tip is to charge during the day, while you are on your computer, for just 2-3 hours. That’s all you need because the lithium battery tends to have a great battery life. And make sure you use the 3-inch USB charging cord included with your iPod!
Stay Up-to-Date
Keep the software on your computer and iTunes up to date. Outdated computer software can cause strange problems when you are trying to sync music to the iPod or have it connect to iTunes. Not sure how? Watch this quick video guide we made for you:
Stay on top of the updates and don’t be afraid to upgrade your iTunes. You can get used to the new program face and your iPod will thank you for it.
This also applies to your computer software, including Windows and Mac OS.

Hi
How many hours should your water iPod shuffle’s charge last before you need to charge again. I just don’t want to run out in the middle of a lap workout. Thanks!!
