Alright folks! Summer is right around the corner and it’s time to get ready.
When summer prep time comes, I usually don’t have a plan on how I’m going to get in pool side shape.
So, this year I’m getting a head start and planning it out. That way, when the sun is finally here, I’ll be ready.
You should join me! Here’s my Summer Slim-Down Swim Program. It will help you reach your goals!
Monday
Let’s start this program out with a run, shall we?
Most people choose to run on the tracks or trails but that never sounds fun to me.
So, let’s hit the pool! Go ahead and hop in the shallow end and start running laps.
The best part is that running in water gives you extra resistance which adds to your workout!
Wednesday
Today we are going to work on our arms.
Let’s start easy and work up to a higher intensity. First, get a beach ball and go into the water waist deep.
Now, try to push the ball fully under the water and then let it go. Do this 20 times.
Next, swim to the deep end and without using your legs tread water with your arms for as long as you can. Then, go back to the shallow end and push the ball down again.
Keep repeating the process for 15 minutes and you’re done!
Friday
Here we are at the end of the week but that doesn’t mean we can take it easy! It’s time for some intervals.
Start off easy with a couple of freestyle laps. Now, sprint as fast as you can without loosing form. Then, slow down a little.
Then, speed back up for another lap! Now, slow down to an easy crawl and catch your breath. And repeat.
With intervals, it can be hard to know when to speed up or slow down. So, I recommend picking up a Waterproof iPod Shuffle from Underwater Audio.
With this player, you can build a playlist that signals you with songs when you should switch pace.
It will really help you stay on track!
One last thought
Take Saturday and Sunday to relax and have fun. Then, get ready to start again on Monday.
If you keep up on this workout routine, you will be totally ready for the summer sun!
