Have you ever wondered what kind of music the Olympic swimmers listen to?
Next time you swim with your underwater iPod, you can rock out to the same songs that they love with this awesome playlist! These athletes are incredible inspiration for many swimmers across the world. That said- this playlist was made as a celebration of their talents!
1. Ryan Lochte
“I’m Me” By: Li’l Wayne
“Young Forever” By: Jay-Z, Feat. Mr. Hudson
I’ll be honest, I am not positive that Ryan Lochte loves the song “I’m Me” or the song “Young Forever.” BUT I DO KNOW that he likes Li’l Wayne and Jay-Z. Thanks to the good people at ESPN Sportsnation who asked him flat out what his music tastes are during an interview.
So from there, I just have to assume that he likes their top hits. And the song “I’m Me” just so happens to also be on Michael Phelps Spotify playlist. I guess the two share more than similar talents, they also share similar tastes.
2. RICKY BERENS
“Levels” By: Avicci
Ricky referenced this song as one of his favorites in an article written by Entertainment Weekly.
Another funny coincidence, Michael Phelps also has this song featured on his Spotify playlist.
I guess these swimmers have much more in common than we originally knew!
3. Michael Phelps
“No Beef” By: Afrojack and Steve Aoki,
“Go Getta” By:Young Jeezy
Thanks to an inside interview with RollingStone, we learned all about Michael’s music style!
He mentions a lot of songs that have a great beat to infuse any workout with tons of energy.
4. Katie Ledecky
“Walk” By: The Foo Fighters
“It’s Time” By: Imagine Dragons
“Home” By: Philip Philips
These are some of the many songs Katie likes as listed by Splash Magazine. I personally think these are the top 3 best songs she listed.
Especially, the Imagine Dragons song, “It’s Time.” That song was also on the playlist we made as a wedding favor! Small world, I guess! Imagine Dragons just won Best Rock Performance at the Grammy’s this year. This band is on the rise!
5. Summer Sanders
“Good People” By: Jack Johnson
“Under Pressure” By: David Bowie and Queen –
“They Don’t Care About Us” By: Michael Jackson
“Somebody I Used to Know” By: Gotye
We got the inside scoop on Summer Sander’s favorite songs from an article done by the Huffington Post.
For those of you who may not remember, Summer Sanders won 2 gold medals for the U.S. swimming the Butterfly in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. She also won a silver medal and a bronze medal.
I was 4 when this happened so it’s the first Olympics I remember watching on TV. She is also from my home town so this was a really big deal to us!
All you kids of the 90’s may also remember her as the host of Nickelodeon’s hit game show, Figure It Out (1997). Summer has made a big career for herself, beyond the scope of swimming, on the screen.
